This journey of life is simply amazing to say the least. Just when you think you have it all figured out here comes another curve ball wrapped full of lessons to be learned! I am learning to always remain teachable. To stop and ask God what are you trying to teach me now through this. I’ve learned through my past experiences that i can handle way more than i ever said i would. I love deeper than i ever thought i could. I never let my praying knees get lazy. Forgiveness was a tough one for me. It took God a few years working with me but i finally passed the test. So now here i am in the next chapter of life….new story….new challenges. This girl has learned from past mistakes so i find myself with an open heart and mind; aware! I know i am in control of my mind and i have the power to take what appears to be bad until it becomes something better.
I know that if what you are thinking doesn’t make you feel good, change that thought. Simple enough right. Philippians 4: 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. If what you are feeling doesn’t make you feel better, change that feeling. If what you are doing doesn’t make you feel worthy, change the deed.
Feeling bad has a way of luring us into complacency. We begin to accept that this is the way it is always going to be, that what is going on is out of our control. This is true, to a point. You can never change what is going on outside of you; however, you can always change what to do in response.
Every experience leaves an imprint on our hearts and minds. That imprint evokes certain feelings and thoughts. When an experience triggers those feelings and thoughts, we have the right to say NO! Yes, that’s right, you have to talk to yourself. Talk to your brain. Talk to your heart. Talk to the cloud of funk that is lurking around, waiting to suck you up! NO!!! you are not going to lure me into a feeling bad! NO! You are not going to convince me that i have to be angry! I am going to think good thoughts no matter what! I am going to love you and accept you no matter what! And if you don’t like it; you can take your negative energy somewhere else! Try responding to a negative feeling once or twice this way and watch how fast it will leave you alone. Second Corinthians 5:7 says that we walk by faith and not by sight. That means we do not make decisions by what we see or feel. We have to search our hearts where faith lives; and live from there. This is something im still learning to do daily. Feelings can mislead us and steal our faith more than any other influence. They always change. We can feel one thousand ways about the same thing in a months time. One day we may feel like doing a thing and the next day we don’t. Feelings lead us to say things that are unwise. Our feelings never convey the truth to us only Gods word is truth. Satan can use our feelings to lead us astray and deceive us. I am a victim! So easily we are deceived! Emotions are unreliable; don’t believe them! Respond with your heart, where the spirit of God abides, and see if you then have peace. Check with your heart, not your emotions, before making decisions. Paul told believers to let peace decide with finality every question that came up. We are to follow peace. In the past, you may have live purely out of your emotions. Accepting every thought and feeling that came at you. Starting today; let peace be your umpire of our lives, we will save ourselves unbelievable misery. We open the door for many difficulties in our lives through doing what we think or feel rather than following peace.
